At almost 57 years old, I had become somewhat complacent about my lack of muscles and abundance of jiggles.  I am at the point in life where, although I’d like to have the body that I had at 20, looks aren’t my driving force.

I had tried personal training before.  Quite frankly, I don’t have 2 hours a day to waste on changing clothes and spending an hour on various boring machines alongside buff 20 year olds.  My friend suggested that I should try personal training with Daniel Thompson.  She said that it took only 20 minutes.  Well, if it could help me assist my husband, I would try it.

You see, my husband has muscular dystrophy.  He can’t sit up by himself, can’t walk and needs assistance dressing.  If 20 minutes a couple of times a week could help me help him, I’d try.

I met with Daniel and he wanted to know what I wanted to achieve.  I told him that I wanted to be strong enough to help my husband.  I also told him that what interested me was that the workout would only take 20 minutes.  He told me about his VTX Storm workout and we scheduled my training.

After a couple of brief sessions (“You can do anything in 20 minutes!”), I was challenged by my husband falling.  There was no one around to help.  I couldn’t get him into a sitting position.  After about an hour of tearful struggling, I finally succeeded.  (The tears were only about the fact that I wasn’t strong enough to help.)  I told Daniel about my frustration.  I needed to be strong.

I’ve been working with Daniel now for about 6 months.  I haven’t had any tendon issues, haven’t been bored and haven’t given up.  A couple of weeks ago, my husband fell again.  I was scared.  All I could think about was the previous struggle.  I told myself that I had to try.  Wow!  I got him into a sitting position with little effort!  Daniel is a miracle worker!!!

I am not a person to “show off”.  But, last week we had several friends over to our house.  My husband told them about my workouts and said, “Show them your guns.”  Without hesitation, I flexed my muscles- no flab, no jiggles.  Both my husband and I are proud of the work Daniel has done with me.
