Our Approach

At New Beginnings Health and Fitness, we believe that strength, power, speed, agility, quickness, and hand-eye coordination are the cornerstones of success for any sport.  Our sport-specific training program focuses on these core elements.

Strength & Power

Strength is the amount of force your muscles can produce, and power is the ability to use strength quickly.  While the two are closely related, our program places an emphasis on developing power, as the ability to generate an explosive burst is most directly applicable to success in sports.  We enhance an athlete’s power by incorporating exercises and drills that focus on quick, explosive movements that innervate the fast-twitch muscle fibers.

Speed, Agility, & Quickness

Athletic movement patterns can be broken down into three components:  speed, agility, and quickness.  Speed is the ability to get from point A to point B in the fastest time possible.  Agility is the ability to rapidly change direction without loss of speed, balance, or body control.  Quickness can also be called reaction time.  It is the ability to react quickly with maximal force production.  Our sport-specific training program recognizes these distinct components of athletic movement and we have developed a training program to maximize all three.

Hand-Eye Coordination

Hand-eye coordination is an often overlooked area of sport-specific training.  Our program recognizes that this is a critical component of athletic success for essentially every sport.  Strength, power, speed, agility, and quickness will only get you so far.  Excellent hand-eye coordination is essential for a receiver to run the perfect route, for a point-guard to split the defenders on a half-court trap, or for a third baseman to defend the “hot corner.”

Sports Supported

We believe that certain core elements (strength, power, speed, agility, quickness, and hand-eye coordination) drive performance in any sport.  We are also able to further customize an athlete’s individualized program for a specific sport and/or position.

1-on-1 and Small Group Formats

We offer our sport-specific training program to individuals as well as small groups (4-6 athletes).
